Horizon Limited Edition Throw 2026

A Study in Light, Woven by Hand

At the edge of the Atlantic, there is a moment that resists being held.

A thin, shifting line where ocean meets sky—where deep indigo gives way to the first light of day. It is fleeting, almost imperceptible, yet it carries a quiet intensity. A beginning.

The Horizon Limited Edition Throw 2026 was created from this moment.

Swans Island Company's Horizon Limited Edition 2026 Throw was inspired by the vibrant colors of sunrise and sunset. A fiery orange water and horizon line as the sun risees along the Maine coast.

Where Light Becomes Textile

This piece is not simply inspired by the horizon—it is an attempt to translate it.

Woven from hand-dyed yarns, the throw traces the arc of a single day’s light—from the depth of early morning to the softened gold of dusk. Each transition is subtle and layered, echoing the natural shifts of the horizon where the ocean meets the sky.

No two horizons are ever the same.
No two pieces are, either.

The Architecture of Light

Each throw is handwoven in our Northport, Maine studio by skilled artisans, using 17 hand-dyed shades of organic merino wool. Together, they create a field of shifting color—depth, movement, and light held in wool.

The design began with a broader palette and evolved through sketches and four woven prototypes. In the process, the distinction between sunrise and sunset softened. From the water’s edge, where sea meets sky, the two often become one—dark indigo turning to gold, a brief horizon line, and the quiet rise of light into open blue.

From Fiber to Form

Finished with mulberry silk bindings woven into the edges, each piece carries the Swans Island Weaver’s Mark—here more luminous than usual. A subtle note of orange against deep blue, it suggests the sun itself, completing the horizon within the weave.

The Integrity of the Loom

Crafted from 100% organic wool, each throw reflects the richness and variation that only true handweaving can achieve. The process is deliberate and exacting—guided by time, material, and skill rather than speed.

This is not production at scale.
It is making, in its truest sense.
