Dear Swans Island Yarn Loyal Customers,
Swans Island has made the difficult decision to no longer produce hand knitting yarn. We want to thank our customers who have knit so many beautiful and meaningful projects for themselves and their loved ones.
Swans Island has always been about the quality of our yarn bases and the beauty of our colors. However, we have always been primarily a producer of handwoven and hand dyed blankets and other woven and knit goods. We started a yarn division due to customers walking into our studio and asking, “would you sell me these beautiful yarns?” We realized that the quality and look of our hand dyed yarns had something worthwhile to add to the knitting world. We built up a business with all hand dyed yarns in multiple bases and counts.
Many knitters became fans of the yarn. Maintaining the infrastructure around the selling of yarn: patterns, tech editing, sample knitting, developing new yarn types and colors, to name a few, proved too much to maintain while our primary lines of business were growing.
We are proud of the quality of product we have put out there these last 15 years and wish all of you the best with your future projects.
