The Whitecaps Cape design was inspired by bits of frothy foam atop the windswept waters of Maine. These handwoven capes features strands of pure wool roving scattered against a sea of soft hand-dyed merino wool. Each cape is slightly different—as unique as the weaver and the wearer! Our softest organic merino wool gives this cape a gentle drape befitting a sophisticated cover-up. Perfect to toss on after yoga or for an evening out on the town,
Whitecaps Capes have exclusive Swans Island panache. Making this beautiful cape is a labor of love. First, we hand-dye the colors using all-natural dyes. Then, working on antique looms, our weavers skillfully place every "whitecap" in by hand as the weaving progresses. Woven (not cut!) selvedge edges and our weaver’s mark in the front corner are the signs of an authentic handwoven Swans Island piece.
